Skin Prick Testing:
At KFMP and WFMP we are now offering skin prick allergy testing.
Allergy skin prick testing is a safe and effective method to identify common allergens that may be causing symptoms such as hay fever, eczema, asthma, or food allergies. We conduct this quick and minimally invasive test to help diagnose sensitivities to various allergens, including pollen, dust mites, animal dander, and certain foods. The procedure involves applying a small amount of allergen extract to the skin and observing for a reaction. Results are available within 15 to 20 minutes, enabling prompt and personalised management plans to alleviate symptoms and improve quality of life.
The appointment is undertaken in three steps
1- review with the doctor (30mins) to identify allergens required to test, discuss and consent for the procedure
2- skin testing with nursing staff (45 minutes) this includes testing for identified allergens and requires a period of observation prior to measuring response
3- a review with doctor (15mins) to discuss results and plan management
The cost for the visit is $350-
Depending on the doctor of your choice, this can be done on the same day, or the doctor and nurse appointments can be scheduled on different days.
At this stage, the nurse appointments will only be available at KFMP on a Thursday and WFMP on a Wednesday.
Only for patients over age of 2.
