Dr Mel Mapleson is a perinatal specialist GP (FRACGP), International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) and certified NDC "Possums" practitioner.
Her niche work is dedicated to the perinatal wellbeing of parents and babies, namely GP Shared Care in pregnancy and breastfeeding/lactation support after birth. Her specialty is extra-long appointments for baby feeding and newborn care. She also provides MS2step care for medical termination of pregnancy.
When not at work, Dr Mel sings competitive acapella and wrestles with her 4 year old. She speaks fluent Italian. Mel is delighted to be back at KFMP after taking leave in 2023 to receive treatment for Hodgkin lymphoma.
