Dr Mel Mapleson is a perinatal specialist GP (FRACGP), International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) and accredited NDC "Possums" practitioner.
Her niche work is **dedicated to the perinatal wellbeing of parents and babies, namely GP Shared Care in pregnancy and breastfeeding/lactation support after birth.**
Dr Mel is the only Australian prospective fellow in the world-first LILAC Breastfeeding & Lactation Medicine Fellowship program through the University of Rochester, New York.
When not at work, Dr Mel sings competitive a cappella barbershop and runs after her toddler. She speaks fluent Italian.
Mel is delighted to be back at KFMP from January 2024 after taking leave to receive treatment for Hodgkin lymphoma.
